Interesting. Did you try two wraps before going to Zingit? Wondering if the problem is slippage more than stretch now.

No, actually I didn't. I never noticed slippage until i replaced the shock cord with Zingit. I suspect this was because of the stretch in the shock cord. Had I pulled the shock cord to it's limit it obviously would have slipped.

Time for some testing. Maybe the design needs a little tweaking. Not sure if I want enough slack in the line to wrap it twice around.

I'm using zingit loops and have to wrap mine twice as well, but I also smoothed out the edges with dremel so I figured that was why. Yes you have to have your RL loose enough to wrap but once you do you take up the slack. Then when you stake out everything is taught

I know some people on HF have been doing this for a bit and do tie their tarp ridgeline off with a piece of shockcord to prevent excessive tension and ripping..this surprised me when I first read it because I thought the ridgeline would sag. But it seems that folks on this thread though don't buy into the shockcord on the ridgeline thing. Interesting.

Bizarre coincidence...I'd seen those a while back and thought they were interesting. Also thought they'd be relatively easy to make.

Here's one I made tonight (before seeing this thread) out of 1/8" aluminum.

A bit rough still but seems to work fine. Now to make its sibling...

I've been known to mill similar parts out of thicker material and then slice off the individual pieces with a 60 tooth carbide tablesaw blade. Strange how they all come out the same.

ii hand to use a micro biner as well, i have never really been a fan of the crl but when Dutch posted these with the wasp set up i decided to give them a shot,, most because i just installed my new pole mod and thought that the crl would keep the poles from rubbing on the top of my tarp.crl gets tangled everytime i set up or tear down and i ended up going back to my stingerz, one on each end
If it aint broke , dont fix it,, just not for me, but now i have 2 complete crls with wasps, hooks and tato rl connecters just sitting in the gear bow.
