3/4 Underquilt With Pad Question

I've read a lot about the advantages of using a 3/4 quilt and a supplemental pad for the lower extremities and I've got a question about that practice. Should the extra pad be placed inside the foot box of the top quilt/sleeping bag or on the bottom between the top quilt/sleeping bag and the hammock? Just curious if one arrangement has more condensation than the other.
I'm a cold sleeper and think I need the full length, but I can see a whole lot of advantages with the smaller pack size. I know that Shug shows placing the Thermarest pad inside the top quilt.

I prefer the pad in the top quilt. It stays in place better and should I need to adjust were it is at I can do that just reaching down. I use a pretty thin pad most of the time and wear my down socks for extra warmth.

Mine goes in the footbox. It is only a small sit pad anyway.

If I use just a footpad, it goes in the footbox of my TQ.

If I need supplemental warmth above and beyond my UQ, I use a 36" long CCF pad 1/2" thick.
I place this between the layers of my WBBB DL, and it fits from my shoulders to rump.
Once in place, neither one moves.

I put a small piece of a Thermarest Ridgerest pad in the foot box of my TQ. I find that a lot of the time I don't even need a foot pad. I am rather short and like to sleep in a ball, so a 3/4 UQ is sometimes full-length for me.
I have not noticed any condensation will using a pad.

Thanks. I've got a small Thermarest Z sit pad that I'll try inside of my Jarbidge. I'm only 5'8 so the Jarbidge is almost a total length quilt for me.

I use 3/4 UQ with a pad in the footbox of my top quilt.

P.S. I like the waffle CCF pads because I can detect where it is with my stockinged feet.
