    Dutch Lights

There has been a few posts about kids and hammocks lately.

So I wanted to share this with ya'll.

Dutch has some mini lights, I will call them " Dutch Lights" The kids love them.

It is the best thing to a night light when camping out side.

They attach to the ridge line and light up for to nights....

I haven't seen the Dutch versions but at the last REI garage sale while I was waiting for my group to get let in I saw ENO had a similar product. I bought four sets two for me and two for my 9 year old. Two have white lights like you have in your photos and two that change colors. First chance to use them will be next month. Excited for the chance. They look great!

For anyone who's crazy-sick into DIY (yeah, like me!) ... Do you know that you can easily rewire Christmas lights to run on any DC voltage?

I've got a complete set I made for my VW bus, wired to run on 12-volts. For hammock camping, you could match them up to whatever voltage you want to use, and then make the string whatever length you need. Here's the basic idea:

--- Each bulb is rated ~ 2.4 volts. So for 12-volt use, you would have 5-bulbs in series ( 12 / 2.4 = 5 ). Or if you wanted to power them with a little 9v battery, you'd use 4-bulbs in series. Then you just parallel another series of bulbs, etc. etc. to reach whatever length you need.

If it seems confusing, take a look at a string of cheap Christmas lights. You'll see it's wired in sections with approx. 50-bulbs in each series, since the string is rated for 120v. If you pull one bulb, that series of 50-lights will go out, but the other series' in the string will still work. Same idea here...

Love it when kids are happy, eh? Way to go, Dad.
