    Howdy from Ohio.

I'll be honest, I've always been a ground camper, but the wife said something to me the other day that made sense. "You love the idea of camping but you always complain and never want to camp"

Which is true! When I have to sleep on the ground I end up sore the next morning, always. I figured hammock camping might be the way to go! The more I read the more I see people saying it's more comfortable than sleeping on a mattress!

I've been doing my research and, well, I think I'm settled on a Warbonnet Blackbird or a Clark NX-250 or maybe a Trek Light setup... there are less options for a guy as heavy as me (300lbs). :-)

Welcome to the forum! You will find a wealth I information here, and loads of people happy to help and answer questions. The eno doublenest is another hammock option for you.
I'd quote a certain book, but that is not allowed.

    Welcome from a fellow Ohioan.
The trick is to have them build a hammock for YOU instead of trying to fit into THEIR hammock.

I looked at the ENO Doublenest too... I'm going to need the whole setup. A bug net, a sil tarp (maybe, I have two already and one is a 5x10 for hammocks), etc.

I was just looking at Dreamhammocks because of what I read in another thread, matter of fact... I think the timeframe to make it might be too long though since I am getting this one for a trip in the latter part of June.

Welcome to the forum,,,there are ALOT of us over 300 lbs and we hang just fine, the Clark is a beautiful hammock that will hold you but warbonnet as well as a custom made Dream hammock will do it too,,plus there is allways the diy route. Take your time and if you get a chance to stop in on a group hang then you can check out alot of different hammocks at one time,, the members here are more than willing to let you get up close and some will even let you lay in thiers to see if you like it!

Check out the for sale thread, there is a used complete set up Eno for sale that could be a good starter set for you
