    Tight Hems

So my hems/edges of hammocks feel really tight, and it's kind of uncomfortable to sit on the edge of my hammock.

Any suggestions? Do I whip it differently? Did I make a mistake with the thread I used to hem it?

    Tight Hems

You should be folding the edge to the middle of the hammock before sitting. Makes a huge difference.

    Nhott,

That makes complete sense, and not sure how long, (if ever, maybe??), till I figured out a simple trick like that.

My first hammock currently under construction..... hopefully first test hang in it tomorrow...

What do you change with the whipping? As just mentioned in previous post, I am currently building, ready to whip tomorrow....

Curious how/what adjustments can be made to the whipping???

    Thanks!

www.tothewoods.net has a couple different methods for whipping. I personally used a "w" whip until recently.

Yep, we usually adjust the whipping.
Also use the W fold pulling up a little extra fabric in the middle of the fold.

Using some continuous loops and a double sheet bend makes it a snap to change the whipping.

I understand the first part of your post, but unclear of the quoted part...

You are using a continuous loop as a larks head to the hammock gathered end, and the the dbl sheep bend, for your whipping??

I always wondered if, or how much, how the ends were gathered in the last few inches would effect the lay of the hammock.... Apparently enough to make a difference....

So are you using the w fold method then? If not what?
