Do UCRs actually save any weight over whoopies?

It seems like they use more cord to make the fixed loop and the stopper knot. Was I deceived (by my own brain, even)?

When I have made then and used them in the past they do use less cordage than whoopies. The actual difference for me is not significant enough to consistently use UCR's but that's me. Some ultra lighters look at percentage of weight savings vs. actual grams/ounces so if the percentage is significant then it makes a difference and eventually adds up.

I don't have exacts, but it does save weight. Its about half the amount of dyneema per side when comparing whoopies to ucr's. With that said, our suspension is already light enough to where that would probably only save a half an oz total, but like i said in the beginning, I don't know the exacts; its an educated guess on amt saved.

What I have found with my UCR/SLS is that there may be a weight savings but the most important thing to me is that the whoopies on each end would lock up, under the strain, to the point that it was hard to loosen them. With the UCRs just a light touch and they release.

I'll echo these statements. Lighter yes, but we are talking about grams. I find them easier to adjust and less prone to get tangled.
