Should i get this bag or not?

I will take about 186 USD with shipping delivered to me.
Should i go with it,or aim for better deal or for down top quilt?

I really like the idea of top quilt versatility but that would set me back about 270 USD with shipping for equivalent temp rating,plus maybe import fees if i get it from US.
UKHammocks have some good quilts also,but it will be almost same price (no import fees though).

I didn't like using a sleeping bag in my hammock. What are you using for bottom insulation? Some people use sleeping bags because they already have them, but personally, I wouldn't buy a sleeping bag with the intent of using it as a top quilt.

I use a sleeping bag for a top quit but also it is handing for ground camping when needed. If funds are limited I would get a sleeping bag for the versatility.

I bought the kelty light year 20 in a long size,it has 600 down in it. From my research this is the predecessor to the Cosmic. I paid 120 dollars for it through sierra trading post about a year ago. So you are paying 60 dollars more for a shorter size with not as good of down. I don't think it is worth it. JMHO.

I have the light year 20 regular. I found it on ebay for $120.00 a couple of years ago. The Light Year was the Cosmic's big brother. 600 fill vs 550 fill. The newer models came with draft collars and a zippered footbox vent. Mine has the draft collars but no vent. The Light Year is now called Ignite and uses dri-down but that's all I know about all of the differences.

I'm more than happy using mine. Still using it since I haven't gotten a top quilt.

I've never seen the Cosmic in person so I can't praise it or knock it

I don't sleep on the ground, so topquilts work better for me. Even if I did sleep on the ground, I'd probably still use a topquilt.

If you are buying insulation for hammock, I woldn't buy a sleeping bag.
Buy an underquilt/topquilt.
Most that use bags are just waiting till they can afford quilts.

i liked using a sleeping bag. for car camping..my only problem was the location of the zipper. mine was on the side and it made getting in & out a bit of a pain. a center zip is almost like a quilt when the bag is splayed out. if my use was for hiking...I'd go with a quilt, simply put, it's lighter in either case i go with an under quilt

I wouldn't pay $189 for that....I got a similar bag for about $80 2 years ago. It works fine, but don't over pay for it.
