    How noisy is Spinnaker?

I just picked up the last UL hammock tarp from mountain laurel designs. The fabric seems like it's gonna be pretty rowdy. Curious to see others' experiences with this material. For $60 and 4.4 oz I'm not gonna complain.

    Company: Mountain Laurel Designs
    Tarp Name: UL Hammock Tarp
    Style: Diamond
    Material: .97 oz sq/yd silicone Spintex09 EXP
    Dimensions:

    102" Short Diagonal
    98" Long side
    59" Short side

I have an old spinnaker tarp made from a lighter 0.7 oz spinnaker fabric. It is significantly noisier than silnylon and a bit noisier than cuben. However, it never kept me from sleeping. Then again, I like the sound of rain on a tin roof.

Thanks for the feedback. The MLD is definitely gonna be my fair weather tarp. I'm a light sleeper though and wonder about wind noise.

    Hey there,
I did a video a while back when I owned a spin tarp and did a sound comparison. You can go to 8 minutes in the video to get to that.
    Hope it helps some.

I have a Spinn tarp. It is louder than my sil tarp, but once it is pitched and taut, which can be done tighter than the sil which stretches more, it doesn't move. Even in near hurricane force winds, the only movement was mere flapping not the crunchy sound oft associated with spinn.

That's what I was thinking. This stuff seems to have no stretch whatsoever. No more soggy silny slapping me in the face at 3am!
