Tarp ridge length for 11' hammock

I haver recently acquired both an 11' DIY hammock and a WB XLC. Most of the larger hex tarps have a 132" ridge. Is this long enough to give adequate coverage in the rain? Should I DIY a longer tarp?

I agree with nutty squirrel, 11' should be fine. 11' with doors would be better. I use an 11' tarp with my XLC and have been thru a 3 or 4 nights of rain & wind with no issues. Only had to use the doors once.

Yep with the sag from a proper hang, tarp should be at least hammock length. You should be fine.
My 11' hangs proper at about 9'7" between the gathers (ridgeline length).

If you put doors on your tarp, the ridgeline needs to be only a few inches past the end of the hammock's ridgeline. With no doors, I would want at least a foot of coverage past each end of the hammock.

As others have said, a 11' hammock's ridgeline will be less than 11' because of sag. I hvae a superfly tarp that's a 132" or 11' and even though I don't have an 11' hammock yet (working on that one) I have about a foot on each end of cover past my hammock which is in the 9.5' range. Just make sure it has side tie outs to give you some extra room under the tarp to lay asym, but that's the case with any tarp...just don't buy one with out them

I don't mind carrying the extra ounces and I like the extra coverage that my 13' tarps provide.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Technically 11' hammocks fit under tarps with 11' RLs.

My 11' BIAS WW however fits really nicely under the 12' RL Toxaway. It looks like I have about 8-10" overhang to play with on each end, and if the wind or weather is blowing in predominantly from one direction, I can center the tarp over that end for a little more coverage.
