I have one of the Mountain Smith poles and love it. The shock absorber really helps on descents.
I have spent two nights in my WBRR using mountainsmith trekking poles in place of the spredder bars without any issues. Set up the hammock yesterday in the yard to let it air out from last weeks overnight. I'm right at 220lbs and within a few seconds of laying down I heard/felt a pop at the head end. Turns out the lock out function on the poles gave way. The poles were set to be the equivalent of the widest spredder bar width, which was probably a mistake given my weight. After the pop, everything seemed fine, but I was plenty paranoid that the poles were going to give way completely. Anybody with a similar experience or recommendations? Worried that I may be pushing my luck.

I have used the Mountainsmith poles as spreader bars since 2012. Now the original WB poles stay at home for when I setup my RR inside to watch Netflix. I've never had the first problem. Buy them. The video by @pgibson is all you need to watch.
Hey there. I just bought a pair of these to use with a bridge I just made. I'm having trouble figuring out how to rig them up to the suspension triangles. What is your method. Thanks.
