not bad at all! i know i read some where at keeping each of the big three at three pounds but thats entirely subjective to hiking style, and equipment cost. I have mine at right now, hammock 55 oz tarp 23 oz bottom quilt 30 oz top quilt 30 oz and lets say stakes at about 5 ounces so that s 143/16=8.9 lbs and thats spending some bucks and those are 20* quilts full length and a superfly so your doing real good

Where's the TQ/sleeping bag? You have to count that.

I think he's using the plug for a top quilt.

Here is my summer setup for 40° and above.

    Hammock 10 oz
    Suspension 2.5 oz
    Bug net 5 oz
    Top quilt 10 oz
    Under quilt 10 oz
    Inflatable pillow 3 oz
CCF pad under feet 2 oz.
    Tarp 6 oz
    6 stakes 3 oz

    TOTAL 51.5 oz (3.2 pounds)

Don't take this as a typical average weight for starting out.
I came to hammocks from an ultralight backpacking style. It took time and money to get to this point. I make most of my gear but use exotic materials that don't come cheaply.

I think your 10 pounds out of the starting gate, is a great beginning. And kudos for jumping into the DIY game!

nah im using the poncho liner as an under quilt, i live in Canada and at this time of year it can be any where form -5 up to like 60 so my sleeping bag really varies

depending on what sleeping bag i use i either add 1 lb, 4lb, or 10lb
