    Deer Hide Insulation

So I was lounging under my apple trees this afternoon and the 60F weather with a brisk wind was chilling me. I always wondered how a deer hide would work, so I grabbed one from inside and gave it a shot. Worked awesome. (Hair on hide) Didn't get too hot, but stayed nice and comfy from my head to my knees. So obviously not a good idea for backpacking (unless you procure one in the field) but great for car camping.

I love the ingenuity of hammockers. what ever it takes to hang and hang comfortably. Viva la hamaca.

I've got 5 buckskin hides I brain tanned; been thinking of sewing them into a primitive hammock

I've been thinking about getting one of the sheepfleeces I've got in with me in the hammock. Using one to sleep on is very comfy as is sleeping in a hammock, so both combined might just be heaven...
