Hennessy Rainfly best diamond/asym tarp? Or...

I'm looking for an ultralight tarp to cover my 11' Dreamhammock. I can't afford cuben quite yet, and am not too concerned with maximum coverage as I do not plan trips with massive amounts of weather in the forcast. Am I a wuss? Maybe. I camp for fun.

The best price to weight ratio I can find is the Hennessy 70D Rainfly at $50/10oz. Is there other options I need to be considering? I'd like to have a little more coverage or lighter weight if possible. 10oz is about the max I want to go, but I feel like 70D fabric is unnecessarily thick and could be getting more with lighter material.

    You're help is really appreciated!!

I have used the Hennessy 30D Silnylon flys that came with my Backpacker Asyms for years in mild precip with wind and gusts, and even a heavy snow. You have to be paying attention, but I've never been wet, and have only been cold when I neglected to bring the underpad. They are big enough to raise or lower each side with trekking poles to control air. The 30D are the same basic dimensions as the 70D except the 70D are slightly less off-axis, so I guess for *size* the 7D would probably be fine. I'm buying a new hammock (I really hate bottom entry any more) and new TQ/UQ combo in the next few weeks, but I'm hoping to keep using my HH fly for now.

    That any help?

That Simplylight design looks excellent. Anyone have experience with it in very windy or snow conditions?

Just ordered the Simply Light Designs Simplicity asym tarp! Thanks nuttysquirrel for the great referral! That looks like a great tarp, and Jared's (owner/operator) customer service is phenomenal!

Got the simplylightdesigns tarp and set it up, and unfortunately it is too small for my 11' DH gnome so I'll be returning it... I was already kind of attached to it since the quality, color, weight, and customer service were all 5 stars. *tear*

I certainly like my Toxaway. 14 oz.

My take on tarps is > Go cheap, until you can afford what you want.

The price points, on the Simplylitedesigns and the Tox, while not the same, reflect minimalist vs full coverage.

Simplylite does make some great stuff. Hard to go wrong there. But if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. Look for a 12' RL.
