    Easter Sunday Overnight with Photos

Had the opportunity to take off work Monday and get a one-night outing on Easter Sunday with my brother and my 7 year old son.

This was the boy's first night out in his own hammock. He did a great job! I'm pretty proud of him.

We have some property that adjoins Wayne National Forest in Scioto County, Ohio. This trip was done by ATV onto our property on the border of the national forest.

We had great weather. It was pretty warm on Sunday afternoon (into the 80's) and got down to about 50 over night Sunday.

These first few pictures are of our whole camp site setup and our individual setups.

This is my setup. I'm using my Kammok Roo with homemade whoopies and a ridgeline from Arrowhead, and a Kammok Glider tarp. The UQ is DIY from a sleeping bag.

This is my brother's setup. Also a Kammok Roo and Glider. I made his UQ as well from a sleeping bag (along with the matching pillow).

He's snoring like a chainsaw in the second photo, while I was up making coffee.

My Son's setup is almost entirely homemade except for the hammock itself. He's sleeping in a Grand Trunk Ultralight, with Whoopie Sling suspension.

His UQ is a modified DIY PLUQ with a pocket for a sleeping pad or extra insulation, and his bug net (which he didn't really need, but felt more secure sleeping in) is made from 2 sheer curtains from Hobby Lobby.

Silas got cold in the night and had to adjust his sleeping bag and add some layers to get warmed back up, but my brother and I both stayed very warm.

I checked the temperature throughout the night with my Thermodo, and this was the overnight reading from about 9:30pm until around 6:15am.

I cooked dinner Sunday and breakfast on Monday on my BioLite stove. I made hamburger mac-n-cheese for dinner and omelets for breakfast.

When we were done tearing down camp, I snapped a photo of our campsite. We did a pretty good job leaving no trace.

We all three had a great time, and are planning to do a longer weekend in the same area in a few weeks!

That's great! Nice to see your son out at that age. Teach them early I always say. Good that you had nice weather where you could set up your tarps nice and high. Thanks for sharing.
