I emailed Dutch yesterday and haven't heard back yet so I thought I would post this here. Has anyone else had an issue with whoopies being cut or frayed by whoopie hooks. It isn't major as you can see but it does concern me somewhat. I checked the holes good for burs before I put them on.

I haven't seen that happen with mine, but I've probably only used them on 10-12 nights.

Looks pretty bad. A little fraying over time is normal but that looks fairly advanced. No worries, Dutch will send you new ones if the hooks are doing that.

I just don't see how it could be the hooks. But I also don't see what else it could be. I mean I know it is the hooks but I don't see how.

Some fraying should be expected. How many hangs do you have on the cord and hooks? Do you get into the hammock softly? Do you move a lot?

Not many hangs on it maybe 20. I do get in softly but toss a lot in my sleep.

I don't know what your weight is, but I assume that is Dynaglide you are using. The lower the strength line used, the more often it will need replacing. That's one of the trade offs for gram weenies.

That does appear to be dynaglide. I've slept on my dynaglide for ~40 nights and not needed to replace mine line yet, but there is noticeable fraying. There is most certainly a trade off and I keep a close eye on all of my gear. For longevity, I might eve consider switching back to amsteel.

I've been using Dutch's whoopie hooks since they came out with dynaglide. I have yet to observe any fraying caused by the hooks.
