    Backyard Hammock Stand

    Over built to take abuse.

Has mounting bolts at different heights to accommodate the girls, wife, and/or me as well my HH camping hammock which is much longer.

All sharp edges have been routed down to avoid unnecessary scrapes. Anti-tipping straps (shock cord) will also help avoid ouchies.

Part hammock, part viking ship. Tons of fun.

*Q* - But why are the sides so long?
*A* - To be able to add shade of course.

    The little ones helped :-)

Over built beats under built every time. It's not like you are packing it. Confidence also is valuable. Great job.

Thanks for the kind words! It came together pretty quick, the hardest part was actually hauling the heavy pressure treated lumber back and forth

There weren't long enough bolts for the bottom assembly in the big boxes so I ended up picking up a few lengths of 1/2" threaded rod and putting locking nuts on both sides, trimming the excess with an angle grinder.

Original plan was to paint it with outdoor patio paint, but I'm liking the look of the wood, so I may just sand it a bit to remove the MFG markings and stain it with deck sealant.

Nice. I've got to get hooked up outside. I planned on moving my Bluberry bushes (we'll see how they do this year) and then hooking between swingset and Persiman tree so I can watch the kids play in comfort. I kinda screwed up and dedicated half the yard to garden before I knew about hammocks.

That is a sweet looking stand dude!!! Just make sure the tarp is off before any storms....all though I doubt a tarp could withstand and lift that stand.

    Great job!!!

That's 2 pressure treated 4x4x8s at the bottom. The thing is so heavy the extra rainfly I put for shade would rip before the stand moved. lol

I do plan on taking it down when not in use. Thinking of buying/making a set of snake skins to be able to put it up or away with less fuss.

I first tested the idea of a hammock stand by hanging one from the girl's swing set and a fence post. The girls used it so much they almost killed my fence. lol

Good luck with the blueberries! Hope you get to hang!
