    Whoopies & rings - I've gone overkill.

Ive never had a problem with it. I use the warbonnet buckle system on my BB, and that seems to work just fine for now.

What about the tarp? I have been rigging a continuous ridge line, dyneema w/dutch hook on one end, dutch fly on the other, that goes under my SF tarp. Again, no drips when I slept in wind/rain but that could be because of the wind.

Maybe you should put drip lines on your tarp ridgeline. just my 2 cents

It could be the attachment point from the SF to the RL is your water break. From that point to under the tarp isn't enough room to get water dripping under the tarp to you.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I just switched to a single ring suspension for my hammocks. One of the many advantages is being able to place the ring under the tarp, very close to the gathered end. The ring is the water break.

I can also make adjustments while still under the tarp. I can hang in an 11.5 hammock (113" RL) on trees that are 11' apart or 20' apart with no changes to my system.

I did make my line with 1/8" Amsteel instead of 7/64" because the Amsteel does get compressed on the ring. This gave me a better sense of security. My lines still weigh about the same as my previous 7/64" whoopies (can use less total line), but have a greater span of adjustability and a better load rating.

Another way to ask this question....

Has anyone ever actually gotten wet from rain coming down their suspension?

I just have the loose end of my whoopies inside the tarp. I've had one moderately heavy rain and could watch the drops come down the rope and follow down the loose end of the whoopie. That seems enough for me.

I just started hanging. But I have a question about you not using slap straps. I have been camping in abandoned buildings (in other countries) where my tarp wasn't necessary. Now, I am wanting to venture "outside" so to speak. Would the caribiner not be enough to make the water drip? If not, then why? I may have to make an addition. Thanks!
