Ras here, first-time poster, long-time lurker. After years of ground-sleeping and months of research/daydreaming/forum hunting, I've recently taken the plunge into hammockry with my first hammock, a Grand Trunk skeeter beeter pro. I'm loving it! Every single time I hang, my face is locked in a blissful perma-grin. As a pretty big/tall feller, and a denizen of the South, the sbp is great for me because its width, weight capacity, and integrated bug net cater to my combined loves of not crashing to the earth and not being eaten by insects. I'm still getting my setup together, having changed the suspension to kammok python straps, decided to make/jerryrig an underquilt, and am looking for a rain fly/tarp that's light and packable but also fits into my nanobudget(and i mean NANO, with a capital NANO). I'm also working to dial in a ridgeline length before i mod the sbp for a central SR, as well as leaning towards whoopies for the strap-to-hammock connection. Any newb tips/recommendations would be much appreciated.
It's good to see that there's a healthy contingent of Georgians on the forum, with so many nearby folk to hang/trade/mingle with!
I'm glad to be here, slack-jawed in amazement at the wealth of info and friendliness of the folks here, and looking forward to a group hang soon! I'll be the giant snoring under the painter's plastic/duct tape tarp...
p.s. I would be sorely remiss in not acknowledging the great and powerful Shug and his videos for pointing me in this general direction early on. Thankee kindly, sir!
