    cat cut ridgeline?

I'm about to embark on a diy tarp journey. I plan on making a cat cut hex tarp per the directions at diy gear supply.

I was thinking of doing a slight cat cut to the ridgeline and I'm tryingb to figure out in my simple brain if doing the flat felled/french seam will work on the a curve.

Anyone have any tips or pointers?

probably to keep the ridge from sagging. imho grossgrain binding works better.

still you will have the weight of the tarp under the ridge so whatever sagging you will have on a normal ridge then you will have on a cat cut ridge.

It's been done. It will lower the head space, and flatten out the center of the tarp.

IMO, it's unnecessary, and an extra complication during construction.

I've made a couple of tarps with a straight ridgeline and they pitch just fine. I originally considered a cat cut ridgeline, but mow I wouldn't bother. Here's one I recently completed made from Argon 2.06 oz/sy ripstop from Dutch.

good call. my very first DIY tarp had a shallow cat cut ridge. All it did was mean I had to set up the tarp lines a lot higher (major reason I always carried my roll-a-chair) and it wasn't nearly as protective because of the reduced width.

I sew my ridgelines with no cat cut. But I put them on the ends and sides. That works just fine.
    The beauty of sunsets,
    The wind in the pines,
The mountains give these and more...
    Peace of mind.
