    actually black rat snakes are quite gentle and beneficial eating rats and mice as well as birds, but my wife felt the same way, as she had never seen a snake climb a tree and it didn't waste anytime in doing it either. when it was fully stretched out on the tree it was almost as tall as I was at 6'
