Calling All Knot Gurus

For new hangers the Hennessey lashing seems rather difficult for making adjustments - not really hard to tie - just inconvenient to make the extra adjustments that those of us still learning need to make. As much as all those fancy suspension ideas look fun to try, I am looking to continue with the stock cord and straps. I have done some knot research (but not the field testing yet) and think that maybe a Becket hitch (double?) or Midshipman's hitch would work. The idea is to find a knot that can be tied/untied more quickly but will hold. It's been a whole lot of years since Girl Scouts! So, any knot masters out there have any other recommendations to add to my try list? (I apologize If this information is already on this site but I have spent a fair amount of time searching and finding mostly information about changing out suspension and interesting hardware.)

I am partial to the slippy buntline ( see http://www.animatedknots.com/buntline/, in step 6 you push through a bight rather than the working end), but have only used it when the hitch is going around something solid like a ring.

The 'slippery' part means you can undo the knot easily with a good yank on the working end that comes out of the bight.

I'm interested in playing with all of the new & fancy suspension options but don't want to void my 1-year Hennessy warranty. So I simply tied a Bowline on a Bight (http://www.animatedknots.com/bowline...e=LogoGrog.jpg) and then attach a carabiner to that. That opens up all sorts of options for whoopie slings or cinch buckles or whatever. It's still bulky to carry around the extra rope but my warranty will be OK.

Anyways, might not be what you're looking for but it's an option.

When I tied knots I was pretty happy using a taught line hitch at both sides.

Its adjustable, so after you tie you can shorten or lengthen the suspension as needed without untying, it always held (assuming that you snug everything up good before loading it, rather than tying a loose knot and letting your weight pull it tight), and its not too difficult.

I use a single descended ring suspension and am quite happy with it. I bought my brother a hennessy and have shown him how to tie the hennesy lash. We start by tying half hitches on each side until the hammock looks like its about the right height, and with the foot end a little higher. Once happy with the visual lay we then tie in each side with the hennesy lash.

The bonus of the lash is that there is absolutely no slipping. With the single ring I get a little bit of slip as everything tightens...

I like a butterfly knot. You can pretty much put one in the middle of any rope and it won't slip. You can undo it later. Done right, you could put a Whoopie sling or something on the loop when you tie it.
