Fiddle-heads and Avalanche Lilies are starting to come out. The bulb of this lily was a favorite edible of native peoples of BC.

On my way down i almost ran into this fella. About forty feet apart we just stood there. It didn't really feel like moving. It then went back to eating so i poked the ground with my stick a couple of times which scared it and it jumped off the path several yards till i went by . Surprising because normally deer run like anything. I don't think it new what i was or was just comfortable with me .?? Anyway nice encounter.
