    Hello from Vermont

I'm 63 y/o and intend to get back into camping this year. I'd like to try hammock camping because it looks so simple, but I'm wondering if it's going to give me back problems. So I'm here to find the ways to use hammocks that are most comfortable. And of course, this looks like a great forum to hang around. Thanks,
    guys.

Welcome, welcome! I went to using a hammock for the very reason that I have back problems and couldn't sleep on the ground anymore. Most reports that I have seen concerning back problems and hammocks have been in favor of using hammocks. However, there have been a few people who have tried hammocks and given them up because of their particular back issues. I would say that if you're not sure if hammocks are for you, then connect with someone who already has a hammock and try theirs out for a nap. You'll know pretty quick if it's for you or not.

+1 on this about backs. Works for many, although not all. Some sleep full time in hammocks due to their comfort/ability to remove pain due to various ailments. Try it out - either through going to a group hang/finding someone local or through purchasing an initial, less expensive one and giving it a try.
