    Great video. I am taking my nine-year old daughter backpacking for the first time in June. I am hoping we have as much fun together. I could do without the snake though.

    Great report. Definitely a banded water snake you saw although they can be tough to distinguish from a copper head. The eyes tell the most to me. I just try to avoid them all and hope they avoid me

    I wish you a great trip with your daughter. I've been getting mine out in the woods for some time - they started out riding in a backpack while I x-country skied.

    Thanks for confirming the snake. I'll have to look at some pics to see the differences in the eyes. And I'm with you on avoiding all snakes! I just happened to have a +10' pole to video this one with.
