    Wink ..........Slaying The Dragon!

    HUZZA!

After another year and a half of honing my dragon slaying skills (A.K.A. - tree climbing skills) I went back to conquer the dragon (A.K.A. - an unclimbed tree hidden deep in the forest). This melee was the first overnight test of my new tarp system which worked flawlessly up high in the tree canopy. If you know nothing about tree camping then get ready for a surprise!

I hope that you guys enjoy watching the video as much as I enjoyed filming it!

Love your vids and continuing inspiration. Keep them coming.

I'm climbing on a regular basis now. I have gone to a rope walker system with a chest roller. Let's this old man scoot up 50' quickly. A 100' rope is rarely long enough if I'm using a base anchor. I save it for cinched tie in points in the crown.

Added footage of you moving about in the tree would be great. I'm just starting to move away from the trunk and out onto the limbs.

Very good! And I agree that 100 foot rope is rarely long enough. I long for a rope in the 150'-200' range but then again, 200ft ropes are heavy, haha.

I actually did record a bunch of footage of traversing up high onto a limb but I was trying really hard to keep the whole video under 6min for all of the people with low attention spans so I didn't include it. And to be honest, I am still learning safe techniques for limb walking myself so making that a priority in my next video will give me motivation to relearn a bunch of neat traversing techniques.

    Thanks guys!

Very safe up there. I don't think bears can climb that high. I never thought of monsters, suppose it's monster safe too. That skinny branch didn't look all that strong to me. I bet that tree never thought someone would set up a hammock in it like that. Thanks for the video!

    Nice.

Agree with gmcttr, if there was a clear shot, it would have been cool if you set the camera up on the ground while you went up to set your anchors so we could see how small you look up in the tree from the ground.

I always thought this kind of climbing would be a good way to get into climbing in general if you grew up in the coastal flood plain like me (no rocks).
Never got around to it though. One day...

Thanks for the video tips and ideas. I will definitely leave the camera on the ground while ascending on my next adventure, I never thought of that one.

I envy you...Haha! I really want to get into this, but I'm not quite ready to drop 300$ on the climbing gear I would need. Maybe someday, if I get into it, we can hang together.
