    Snake skins vs. bishop bag

I am wanting to acquire (make or buy, haven't decided yet) either skins or a bishop bag for my tarp + ridgeline and my hammock + bug net. Is there any inherent advantage to one over the other? Or an advantage for say, skins on the tarp but BB for the hammock?

My preference, tarp and tie-outs go in snakeskin and hammock plus bugnet go in a bishop bag.
I wouldn't put them all in one container.

No, no, not all in one container. I was wondering about skins for tarp and separate skins for hammock vs skins for tarp and BB for hammock vs BB for tarp and separate BB for hammock.

I've never seen a hammock in skins but there's plenty I've never seen.

From my reading experience, it seems lots of folks like their tarp in skins because they can string up the tarp, yet leave the skins on. And so if the weather calls for the tarp, the tarp simply needs to be guyed out. Mesh skins are nice in that they provide airflow, which may help the tarp dry a bit if it's put away damp. But this also means you have a 10-11' worm to deal with when packing; which could make a BB for the tarp nice to have.

I've considered using skins, but the worm packing piece is what keeps my from holding off. I keep my hammock in a bishop bag and tarp in a standard stuff sack (although bishop bag would work just fine there, too).

My hammock is in skins and the tarp as well. For me it makes it easier to set up and fold away just in case there's a brief shower that might sweep over. It allows folding it away to be tidy and when you unroll the skins, the tarp (separate) and hammock just unravels. Just my experience and I'm happy with them.

Skins on the hammock allows you to hang it without risk of dragging it through the dirt. It is awkward packing that snake until you get used to it though.

Mesh snakes from mountain goat gear for the tarps, then in the outer pocket of the pack. I've used sol nylon snakes skins on the hammock, but am now just stuffing in a double ended bag, goes into the pack to stay dry

I keep the "open" end of the BB a little on the tight side so that when I pull out the hammock there is enough resistance to keep the excess material in the bag until I walk it all the way out.
I think I'll try mesh skins for the tarp. It should do well to complement the pseudo-cloud method (a la Mike Clelland) I use when packing.

I like the Bishop sack with my hammock. I'm not a fan of snakeskins due to the awkward "package" they require you to fold them into. I prefer a simple stuff sack for my tarp, but a Bishop sack might not be a bad idea, either.
