Hiking poles as spread bars for the RR

So, I've got some aging twist-lock Leki Makalu (spelling?) hiking poles, i don't much care for them, but i got them years ago on a whim without any research (before I knew better). Anyway, they don't lock very well anymore, and now that I have the Ridgerunner, I'm wanting to see about trekking poles that would work well as spreader bars (with Brandon's spreadbar tips)..

I was eyeing these guys: Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork and have read many favorable reviews of them as far as trekking poles go, especially as far as the cork comfort and flick lock mechanisms go. However, I can't seem to find information as far as the cap end of the cork handles being able to be removed and a tip like the ones Brandon sales being able to be installed.

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

The cap is not made to be removed. You are looking for hiking poles with a camera mount and the mount needs to be inline with the shaft of the pole and not offset.

Otherwise, you are looking to mod a pole....

So, can anyone recommend some specific hiking poles with inline camera mounts that are: (1) good as trekking poles; (2) good as camera mounts; and (3) good to use in place of the RR's stock spreader bars?

These make great poles for the RR.

They are the ones that Miguel linked to in the first post of the second thread that gmcttr posted above.

Sucking in your gut is only good for 20 pounds. A haircut and lighter socks might make up the difference.

Hate to say it but I am getting up close to 200. I don't feel any flex in them at all.

The mountain smith poles are great!---I bought a pair 6 months ago---------very sturdy pole, really easy to use as spreader bars! (no adapter needed for the ridgerunner---works great!) At 230 lbs I have had no problems with this pole---doesnt flex much at all. Im not sure how many pounds of stress are actually on a spreader bar while the hammock is being used.
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

    Thanks Stevebo,
Just to make sure i'm understanding you right. You didn't need to buy the hiking pole adapters from Warbonnet to poke the ends into the metal sockets on the ridgerunner? Just the camera mount on one end and carbide tip in the other? If so that's great news. Great news!

They say the camera adds 10lbs maybe i'll just leave that at home too.

I've looked at two top end brands, Leki and Black Diamond, neither has a pole set that I can find that would work.
