    new build

I've picked up some walmart ripstop, $1.50/yd, od green, and I'm about to start up the gear making machine. My thoughts are ,gathered and whipped per HH clone, with ring and rope suspension ala Grizz's video. Any feedback from the master builders here would be great. I'm doing double layer for pad and strength (330 lbs-6'-5"), with a 9'-6" finished length. Just curious if anyone had they would change or mod. from past experience. I have 10 yards of od green and 4 yards of mosquito netting. Tree straps with marlin spike seem to be lightest and fastest to me, let me hear what you folks think.

A bit longer and you'll increase the comfort. A full 11' would be amazing, but if you're trying to cut weight as well, I'd recommend at least rounding it out to 10'.

As for the double layer, I found this to work very well. Use 42" for the openings, that should be long enough. The button hole in the diagram is to run the ridge-line out and attach to the suspension system. I like doing it that way with a double-sheet bend for suspension, but the HH clone per HC4U's instructions ridge-line system works great as well, just be sure the knot is large enough and the whipping is crazy tight.

My PDF instructions on how to build this hammock are too large a file to attach to this. I can email them to you (or anyone) if interested.
