    Nice little test-hang site...

Who knew that old playset would come in handy someday?

So what you're saying it's I should convince my wife to let me get a swingset for the kids now, so I'll have a backyard hanging spot later...it's almost too good of a plan.

Ooooh. Easy and inexpensive to make. I may just have to do that as my backyard doesn't have trees in the right places.

Nice! I think it looks even better than true hammock stands, metal or wood. May be cool to stain it, camo it or if it's in a somewhat permanent location grow ivy or some kind of vine up it.

So true. I have decent trees but not configured quite right. The porch was working for a while but this is great for testing the tarp etc

Like the idea of ivy! Was planning in staining it or something. Peelo had suggested grasses around...like that idea as well. Thinking porch-mode maybe tonight...

If you want something unique, try hops. You can pick up a rhyzome for about $5 and they'll grow back (fast: I have some that have surpassed 16' this year from being cut back to the ground at the end of last fall) every year. You can trade them to homebrewers for beer (or make it yourself!) and they often have a piney or citrusy aroma, depending on which strain you plant.

Don't do this if you have a dog, though research is not extensive, ingesting hops can be highly toxic to some breeds of dogs (Golden Retrievers and especially Greyhounds have been documented).

They're an aggressive grower, but they won't completely overtake an area or destroy mortal in brick.
