Here's the situation. I'm trying to rebuild a tent pole for an external pole mod. The original thought was to just cut the pole in half and use each half for the two external mod poles. The problem is that I need to add a section to one of the halves to make it work, thus one of the shock cords will be too short. Just replacing the shock cord seems to be out of the questions as the ends and inserts seem to be glued in. I don't think there is enough room inside the tube for a fisherman's knot. So. what I'm proposing is overlapping the two pieces of shock cord by 1/2-3/4" and whipping them together with some thread. Do you think this would work?
