Excellent write up Hooch, glad you had a good hike. My daughter and I walked that section about this time last year.

Hooch, you should try coming down to Uncoi Gap in a steady rain from the south on those rocks. LOTS of fun, then. Did you see any wild boar sign? Thanks for the trip report!
About a mile north of Low Gap there was quite a bit of side trail damage up the hill to the Chattahoochee draingage sign, this was in early May last year. Ran into some pro wild boar hunters in the Smokies. An interesting night job!
I hiked the other way this past April. I have to say that's definitely my favorite section of the Georgia AT. I enjoyed your post ...brought back memories...wish I was still out .

I'm about an hour away from this section and it's part of my regular stomping grounds. Yeah, you see lots of evidence of boars. We've even walked up on a.... (what's the plural of boars..) "herd" of them three times. Twice between Trey Mtn. and Deep Gap.
