I think I just recreated the lay you are describing. I laid with my bottom closer to the foot end of the hammock and my right shoulder came up with a slight back twist as you described. I had my usual angle of lay, so I was flat, just twisted. I then went the opposite direction with my butt (closer to the head end), and the opposite twist happened.

From the pics it looks like one side is higher than the other? maybe just the angle of the picture? Both ends need to be the same height to distribute the weight. All depends on the hammock type, your body, and your preference, its hard to tell from the pics.
I sleep on a brazilian hammock full time, you just have to play with the angles, bring it up, bring it down, until you find the right spot, took be several weeks to get the perfect hang. I found that if my body is getting pushed by the hammock, then it is most likely too tight and needs more sag.
