PA Mid State Trail Birthday Bash and Hang

The Mid State is a long linear trail in central PA. It is celebrating it's 40th anniversary on Sunday July 12. I would like to put together a group hike/hang for that weekend along some section of the Mid State Trail and culminate at the Tavern for a glass of Mid State Trail Ale.

    Anyone interested in joining me?

Just wanted to let everyone know about a 40th Anniversary Party for the Mid State Trail. The party will be held on July 12th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks in Millheim, PA. The Elk Creek will also be debuting their newest beer at the event: the Mid State Trail Ale. All are invited for good times and good beer.

Sweet! Millheim is a little over an hour away from me. I can't hang on Sat. night but I'm in for the tasty brews on Sunday. I'll meet you @ the Alehouse Rev...

Any other info on the hike? I might be able to do the hike. Did you have a start point and time in mind?

Well... my hiking distance/day is limited. I have been wanting to do the Hairy John's Picnic area to RB Winter State Park section for the last little while and haven't been able to. So is one possibility. But hey... I am open to opther options as long as I can get things worked out. We'd need to be somewhat close to Millhiem. Overnight parking at Hairy John's is not recommended.

I had elsewhere suggested Stillhouse Hollow to Millheim via Poe Paddy but I can't come and that might be a few too many km. I suppose Poe Valley to Millheim via Poe Paddy might be nearly as interesting and presumably one can find legal spots to hang near Penns Creek. I would suggest using the MST map 311-316 rather than the 307-310 - even though they overlap the 311-316 representation of this area is perhaps a little better. But I still can't come, raise an ale for me.

That's too much for me. But it would make sense to do although a fair amount of it is not part of the MST

But since it's (a) on the MST maps and (b) ends at a beer joint it's all OK.
