8-days from Portland to Denver

So here's the deal. I'm looking at eight free days in late June-early July between two different obligations on the west coast. I will depart from Portland, Oregon on the afternoon of 27 June and do not need to be in Denver until the evening of 5 July. I will have a car and a pack full of everything I need for multiple days on the road/trail.

So what should I do? One BIG hike somewhere between those two points (like Yellowstone/Teton area). Or do I make a couple shorter hikes along the route - possibly swinging as far south as Zion (hammock friendly?)

What would YOU do with a free Week in the Northwest area?

18 hours of driving according to Google. So that leaves you 6 days to hike. I would try to get one 3-4 day trip in and one 1-2 night trip. I've found on road trips if I try to see too much I won't see anything for more than a few minutes.

From the direction you will be driving there looks to be endless possibilities to hike and hammock.
