Hello Everyone,
I'm hoping to get some feedback about which style of Continuous Ridgeline (CRL) or Full Length Ridgeline you use for your tarp and why. Even though i'm sure there are numerous iterations of each style, to simplify it i'm talking about two standard types: one that creates two V's at the end of the tarp and pulls on the tarp's ridgeline anchor points directly, and one where the ridgeline cord is pulled straight between the two trees and the tarp is attached to it via prusiks for example.
Style Number 1

Of course the specifics such as hardware can be changed out, but you get the idea. This style pulls on the tarp material and anchors.

You're basically running a straight cord between the two trees, pulling it tight, and your tarp's ridgeline anchors are connected with prusiks.
I'm currently using style 1. It has the benefit of the two V's that my hammock suspension sits within. My concern is the stress it puts on the tarp's ridgeline (i'm using a cuben tarp). I'm thinking of going to style 2 to alleviate that concern, but do you still get a tight tarp ridgeline with it? And does the straight ridgeline cord get in the way of your hammock suspension.
I'm going to experiment with it, but am looking for other's experience and feedback. Why do you use one over the other? There isn't much of a weight difference between the two, and i can see pro's and con's of both. Thanks in advance.
nate.
