Funny we are reducing the menu, limiting selection, cooking simple, and electing a chef. Then all of a sudden someone says Indian and Mexican and all rules out the window!

I do not have an extra tarp, bugnet, underquilt or topquilt. (Having to outfit 2-4 others)

Loving the temps down here right now, 50's at night, low 70's in the day. Here's hoping that's still the case in 2 weeks.

Since it's car camping, how about everyone throw their extra gear in the car, and then we'll have a pool of stuff to work with, and we can play who can put the best combo setup together?

Ratdog, pilsburythrowboy12 and I are going to explore the Skit Branch tomorrow. We'll be bringing saws and hopefully making the stream more navigable before the hang. Looks like people will be able to recreationally paddle upstream in kayaks, but that's why we're reconnoitering, to make sure we know.

There's some fine looking fishing holes from what I can see.

Upper Skit Branch, some kinda water flower.

While Ratdog got his boat in the water I paddled upstream.

We headed downstream towards Batona Camp and had some great paddling on open water.

The old Batona Trail before it was rerouted back in the seventies I think. Me and Ratdog hiked a ways on the trail looking for the best portage around a 2-3 ft. high beaver dam.

After the dam things got messy. We dragged our boats through the swamp the rest of the way to Batona Camp.

It was muddy but it was a good mud, spa quality.

We hung our hammocks, kicked off our shoes, and enjoyed lunch and cold beverages on a beautiful day in the Pine Barrens.

Looking downstream toward Mill's Pond. We'll try bushwhacking this section at the hang.

Wouldn't be a recon without a little hammock time. Funny thing was, when I arrived SS asked if I brought along a hammock. I laughed and said "of course, two in fact". SilvrSurfr replied "me too, brought along an extra just in case you needed one". 2 guys, 4 hammocks, S.O.P. for HF related activities.
