I had some trouble releasing a whoopie sling over the weekend and I've seen a few posts with the same issue in this thread. I think I may have a solution. A release line that is tied/spliced on each side of the bury. It is slightly looser then the line under tension, but by pulling on the line it would compress the bury and release it. I can post some pictures if anyone is interested.

    EDIT:
I realized a release string could be embedded in the bury of the whoopie sling, just like has been suggested for soft shackles. That would ensure easy release of even a very tight whoopie sling.

I am 110% with you SlowBro! I replaced my stock Hennessey suspension with DIY whoopie slings, and could not be happier. Quick and simple set-up, easy centering, complete holding security, and super speedy take-down. T's all true, as well as being an inexpensive and simple solution!

So Slobro in 2009 eh? I love my whoopies! Genius.
Whoopies, toggles, straps, continuous loops. No hardware. Truly enlightening!

Interesting, the Whoopie was cutting edge back in 2009. I still use them, but there are a number of other options out there. I'm glad to see the instructions are still available, even though I wouldn't use a yarn darning needle. Thin piece of wire bent in half and threaded down the middle of the braid from the Out to the In. Slip the line in the crook of the bent wire and pull the wire back out thus pulling the line from the In to the Out.

Yep, I'm still a die-hard Whoopie sling guy. Dynaglide is my choice of material.

This is a great starter( admittedly I do not read all 50 pages). At one point, I stumbled upon a hammockforums thread that told the minimum lengths for usable DIY continuous loops, whoopies and Brummells. I am interested in 7/64 amsteel but I know I saw some notes on Dyneem and lash it too. I've tried searching to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It seems like this in it self would be a great diy sticky thread.

Check out Opie's pictorals. Very nice and easy to understand. I don't think he ever did a pictoral on whoopie slings out of respect for SloBro's initial whoopie sling thread.
