Whoopie slings rely on the load in the hammock to constrict, and therefore hold fast.

This eliminates the ability to adjust while under load.

Get your structural ridgeline length dialed in using an adjustable ridgeline. Then replace it with a fixed ridgeline of that length.

When deploying in the field, string up the hammock with just enough tension to keep the ridgeline straight. Do this by pressing down on the middle of the fabric (where you would sit). No need to jump in & out of the hammock.

Once the ridgeline tension is correct, make sure that sure hand is about 18" off the ground when you press down the hammock.

Adjust the height of the tree straps to make it 18", remembering to have the foot end a few inches higher than the head.

    If the tension

Are you using a SRL (Structural Ridgeline)? If not, by adding one your hammock lay will be less affected by your suspension.

Man ... snagged again ! I saw the continous loop video and then watched the whoopie sling videos. Ordered 50 feet of green 7/64 amsteel and bought a loop turner at Joann Fabrics. In 3 evenings I finished up my 50 feet and ordered another 100 feet .... when will it end ???? Luckily my son-in-law is a hammock camper as well as another friend saw them and said "we need to talk".

That's one of the great things about this forum - all the free knowledge.

    THANKS !

Same thing just happened to me! I ordered 200' of 7/64, and made my first two sets of whoopie slings yesterday. Today I'm going to make come continuous loops, and then maybe some soft shackles.

Thanks from me, as well, for all the free (and useful) knowledge.

I know this is an older thread . But I am curious if you can use a 7/64 Whoopi sling to hang a hammock chair .
If I understand the numbers the wait on a single sling in a vertical pull is the same as the pull on two at a 30 degree.

Sorta depends on trees in your area. I carry a 5' and a 7' here in Minnesota.
