The length you need depends on your maximum hang, and the length of your hammock. I like starting with about 10 to 11 feet of cording for each sling.

Glad you caught the splicing bug, Hooch!

Looks like I'll be ordering about 40' of Amsteel from APS pretty soon. I'm pretty stoked that I get to try my Dutch Clips and my Whoopie Sling tomorrow. Can't wait!

What i need is to make the mini huggers that go around the tree, where do you get those? they connect to the sling via marlin spike, etc. Is there a guide for those too?

That's just a length of webbing, with a loop sewn in each end. Very very simple to make.

But, if you want to just purchase some you can either buy a Simple Sling or some ratcheting tie-downs and cut off the hardware. The tie-downs will likely be longer than you need unless you trim them to length and sew another loop. The simple slings are made to order.

Just cut the straps that came with your Blackbird to the desired length. Ta-da! No sewing required.

I'd rather keep them intact in case i wanna put em back on, is there a site to order light 1inch webbing like the bb has, perhaps in camo?

OWFINC has camo, but you have to sew it yourself. The seatbelt-polyester linked from StrapWorks above is not heavy either.

I just wanted every1 to know, after weeks of fear of knots, screw ups, and general misunderstandings about the process, i have used up my 20 feet of amsteel 1/8 blue leftover, and made WHOOPIE SLINGS. The weight of my hammockk-the WBBB 1.1 DOUBLE LAYER is approx 23.6 oz, a savings of nearly 7 oz. I am on my way to lowes, or homedepot or fabric whatever, to get a goot 10 feet of 1 inch polyester webbing to make my marlin spike toggels to clip my whopppie onto, am i correct in that i only need the webbing, and the toggle, no other ropes or strings are needed? The toggle method is the lightest right?

That's right, nothing needed on the trees but webbing. Use sticks that you pick up along the trail (1/2" diameter or so) for saving the weight of carrying toggles.
