Super quick setup! And so nice to be able to dial in my hammock lay.

Just made my first set of whoopie slings in about 30 minutes while watching that sweet video. Very easy! Now to make some shackles and continuous loops and a fixed ridge line. Yep, I should have ordered more than 75 feet.

Quick question, with the ridge line, should that be supporting any weight or should it just be tight enough where you can hang things on it but 95% of weight is on the suspension?!

I ended up eventually getting a 600' spool. Yeah, fun stuff.

It should set your hammock sag or angle so that you don't have to be as exact about the tree suspension angle. It just locks in your hangle. It may be tight or not depending on how you set up.

First attempt at a set of whoopies, got the rope at harbor freight, not too sure what the load rating is but I will check it out before hanging to be on the safe side. It did have strands inside but I took that out. If anyone knows if these can be used please let me know.

The main problem with those will not be the load rating, they may or may not handle the weight.
The real problem will be that nylon rope jacket stretching. Amsteel does not stretch, it's why we go to the trouble of using it.

Like I said, the weight rating is NOT the reason to avoid using it.
It will stretch quite a lot. That will be irritating. It will cause you multiple re-adjustments.

That's the working limit(load limit), not the breaking limit.

What do you want to use it for? It's great for many possibilities.

It's limited for hiking due to bulk to strength ratio. Amsteel wins, hands down.
It's not hollow core, so it's extremely hard to splice. Splicing is still doeable, but, derates it due to the strength of the sheath not being up to par.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

As far as I know when ropes are made with a sheath and core, it it the core of the rope that carries the load and the sheath is for protection. By removing the core the load strength is massively diminished.
    So, no.
