I treat the outside of my hammock. I also treat my hat. I only mention it because I didnt see it on your list. It really works well keeping stuff away from my face/head area while walking. Very noticeable when I remove it!

Most of my outdoors clothes is commercially treated with industrial strength permethrin anyway (Insect Shield), so I figure why not, and do the entire hammock too...

Have you run into a lot of ticks this year? I've seen a bunch south (catskills) but I've been in the dacks 4 times so far, and not seen one... *knock on wood*

And you can also send your hammock to Insect Shield, and have it commercially treated.. something I intend on doing soon, working on a spare hammock specifically to send in and try.

    wow ...hadn't heard of that.
Ive seen the pretreated stuff around but didn't know you could send stuff in.
Post up your results if you can. Would be interested to hear.
Yeah the ticks are absolutely bananas this year.
Ive had friends come in with 5 after only a few hours out.
But that was in a bog so....mountains might be different.
