gargoyle indoors 006.JPGSince becoming addicted to hammocks awhile back, I wanted the comfort of being able to hang indoors. I took a "coupling plate" ,available at most hardware stores, and bent it in my vise to accomadate a ring. Screwed into 2x4 wall studs using 4- 1/4x3 1/2" flat head screws, pre-drilled holes and impacted screws into studs..
I have been sleeping in a "travel hammock" for a month, no damage ,yet. Now that I've got the "bird" built, I gave it the place of honor it deserves. Since I'm on the flubbier side of heavy, I think it is doing good. No cracks in drywall. As far as screwing to wall studs, just be sure to get the screws in the center of studs. I've had good luck with this and will keep you informed of any future complications. I sit gently into the hammock, no jumping, and don't try to swing, minimizing stress. A little swinging is inevitable, I just don't get crazy in it. Also showing my 64" wide, extra spacious and comfy "gargoylebird".fly , bird ,fly
