Yeah, Timmerton, thank you for posting. Those two items were what I was referring to, the standard triangular cinch buckles, and the clip for around the tree.

That said, the Dutch biner looks tempting as a mod for the Ridgerunner, to replace the apex buckle...hmmm.

And the titanium Dutch Clip should be this http://dutchwaregear.com/dutch-clip.html That's for connecting your webbing around the tree if you go with the standard webbing and buckle setup, as shown at around the 45 second mark in this video. http://youtu.be/YgqbxZLV4RU

Thanks, gents...I do appreciate it. Given I've got the Dutch biners on the way, I think I'll try and make that work with the stock setup. Now I just have to figure out how to get the apex buckle off to replace it. Maybe that'll be obvious once the hammock is in-hand?

Watch this video. About halfway through warbonnetguy removes the apex buckle.

Interesting, hadn't seen those (or haven't been paying attention). How is is attached at the hammock end?

these are a new product, he actually made that video at the hang I was at like two weeks ago. since you don't need the loop in the webbing on the tree side, you could just feed it through itself at the apex buckle. What I would eventually like to do is make something that is half dutch clip half dutch hook, eliminate the apex buckle and short piece of cordage altogether and hook the webbing on the clip side and the suspension triangle to the hook side.

I just got a pair of g-clips in the mail. My plan is to use them with whoopies and tree straps to eliminate the toggle. My whoopie's adjustable loop will be fed through the loop in the end of my tree strap, then use the g-clip adjust the length of the tree strap to fit the tree, clip it to itself, and the whoopie provides the hammock suspension adjustment. I use a whoopie hook in the fixed eye to attached to the hammock.
