Need Advice on Suspension for WB Ridgerunner - whoopies vs. buckles

I plan to buy a Warbonnet Ridgerunner soon and need your expert advice on which suspension to choose - whoopie slings or webbing with buckles.

I currently have two ENO DN hammocks and use the stock suspension, so I have no experience with whoopies or buckles.

I weigh up to 235 lbs when I've not been hiking much, so I will likely go for the double-layer hammock. Otherwise, I plan to outfit my gear as light as possible for all other equipment, with the goal of going UL. I hike mostly in the mountains of NC - typically spring, summer, and fall.

Which suspension do you recommend and why?

    Thanks!

I've got a WB BB and a Ridgerunner. I have Woopies on the BB and the stock D rings on the RR. My vote goes for the D rings. The Rings are a bit fiddly but I got used to them quick enough. With the woopies it seemed like I never had enough hands to hold the hammock + hold the whoopie + hold the tree strap, now adjust. As per usual YRMV.

I hated the stock d rings that came with the RR. So I made up a set of whoopies. Couldn't be happier. When I had a black bird I switched those out to whoopies as well.

I use Dutch binders to separate hammock suspension from cinch buckles. This way if straps are wet you don't have to get RR wet when packing.

Cool, looking to get a WB RR. Leaning towards the woopies.

Agreed with fjones. Get the Dutch biners. This will allow a much easier time if you every want to get a spindrift.

It was great too see y'all at Smoked Butt hang. There is a lot I have not learned on navigating this site, please forgive my lack of reply
Go whoopies, tree strap, 11 footer double layer, climbing rated carabiners and or Dutch gear. I don't use knots or hardware as seen in my video, but my videos may be hard to follow, so you might not want to try that early on. Might see y'all at Yates hang in spring and fall. Yates Hang is always the weekend of time change day light savings.

Tough call for me. I have a WBBB wirth straps, and a HH Exped that I hooked up with Whoopies. In some ways, the whoopies seem easier to adjust, particularly when needing to create some slack on one side or another. However, there is more BS to deal with:tree straps, whoopies, toggles. I'll also say that with the D ring/strap set up, I seem to have more range in terms of options of how close or far the trees are from one another. I obsess about this all the time. Despite the slight pain when letting slack , the straps are simpler to deal with. All I can say is that for me with suspension, the grass always seems greener on the other side. Perhaps the final test for me is that when I order my XLC, I think I will stick with the D ring/straps. Just simpler, better range, and absolutely no chance of leaving my tree straps on a tree, etc. Good luck.

The only question in my mind is whether the D rings will work as a water break. If they don't I'm betting I find out about it quick enough😮
