I've bought my HH for the week-long Scout camp at Haliburton (Ontario) this summer. According to Environment Canada's data from last year, I can expect daytime highs from 32C/90F (avg 25.8C/78F) and nighttime lows down to 5.5C/42F (avg 13.5C/56F). So I'm wondering what kind of insulation I should be bringing (note: while I'm not hiking, the less I have to lug from point A to point B the better).
At this point I'd don't want to spend more $$ on UQ or SS. I don't think my CFO would approve. And while I might try hanging in the fall / spring / winter (thus requiring a good UQ - since it gets below freezing), first I want to see how this summer goes. (OTOH, cheap DIY suggestions are appreciated.)
I do have a 1.5" OCF pad & decent sub-zero mummy bag which has kept me toasty tenting at winter camp, along with a couple of three-season sleeping bags. I also have a small quilt which I could add shock cords too and rig as an UQ.
I figure the mummy is going to be overkill - I'm better off bringing one of the three seasons along with the pad. (I was thinking today I need to do a test hang with the pad & bag and see how annoying they are in the hammock.) But what does the collective experience of the forum say?
