I got it home and pulled it out of the stuff sack, which IMHO, is on the unnecessarily complex and complex side (the stuff sack), if I use a stuff sack I will shove the underblanket into a spare sil nylon one I have. It is thin so far, but I am letting it uncompress. I intend on using it as a summer UQ and I suspect that is where it will shine. I don't see how this thing is going to handle -5*c temps as advertised. But I sleep cold.

I heard back from DD, they did not know the maker or brand name for the insulation they use in their underblanket.

From my initial inspection, it seems well made, no loose threads. I unstuffed it a couple of days ago and it has lofted a bit. It feels like synthetic insulation. If I had mad MYOG skills I would replace the insulation with climashield. I think it will make a fine summer underquilt.
But yeah, I am not all that reassured that they did not know more than that the insulation is synthetic floss silk, no manufacturer or brand name. Everything has a brand name.

Buy what you think is appropriate for your needs. I don't have a dog in any of this, I was and will be providing my thoughts and impressions of the DD underblanket.
I have dealt with AHE and bought some of their stuff, not any of their quilts, but i don't think you would regret the purchase, they make really nice stuff.

I just got mine in today, and although I can't put it to the test yet, I'm already in love with it! For the price, the ultra fast shipping (1day to the US), and the high quality of their products, I just don't think you can beat it. It is softer and smaller bulky-wise than I thought, based on the website photos. It packs down well and has so many options for rigging it to your hammock. All the caribeeners and shock cord that comes already on it makes it a breeze to use. If you are on the fence, I'd say get it! And rated to 23 degrees F is pretty good since I'm sure you'll likely use a sleeping bag or over quilt in combination with it during winter use. Just my 2 cents. :-)

I will be bringing it on a trip next week for either my use or my daughter's use. We will both hang on a multi-day trip. I will also bring the WL summer series 3/4 UQ and maybe i will switch between the two. Of course the low is projected in the 60's so i won't be pushing the temp boundaries, but i did not get the DD underblanket for more than shoulder spring/summer, summer and shoulder summer/fall use.
