Welcome from Mountain City, GA! I live up here in the Rabun county mountains and it isn't too far from you. Panther Creek is a hanger's dream, 3.5 mile hike to the falls with awesome hanging spots to set up. And if you like to fish, the trout are plentyful. Really anywhere you go up here you are bound to find a good spot.

Panther Creek trail head is just south of Tallulah Gorge...you'll see the signs on us441 as you travel. There isn't a designated hanging spot/area, per se, but as you end at the falls there are numerous spots to hang. I'm going on the 18-19th with my 2 sons...I'll take some pictures and post if you'd like.

Expect hordes of people on the weekend and consider yourself very lucky if you get a spot to camp at the falls. Firewood is scarce at the falls so expect to put some work into getting firewood or don't have a fire. There are plenty of nice spots along the trail though and firewood is more plentiful also.

You can use a forked stick to push your straps higher up the trees.

welcome from palmetto! i second steveD (hey douglasville/palmetto/newnan! we're all practically neighbors!) both chattahoochee bend and mcintosh are pretty cool, and only 30-40 min south of atl. i know mcintosh better than c-bend, and the campsites are pretty open. there might be one or two spots to hang. your odds improve the earlier you can get there. also there's this group hang within a couple hours from atl coming up later this year. looks pretty cool. i'm new to the forum myself, and the word is group hangs are a great way to check out rigs, get tips, etc.
