    Original Style Eureka Chrysalis- $165.00

For sale is an original style Eureka Chrysalis, all in one hammock. This hammock has an integral bug net and fly. The hammock itself is a modified bridge style. The top and bug net can be tied back for an open, unrestricted view. This hammock was set up once in my yard, and then used on one overnight. It is in like-new condition. $165.00 to your door, CONUS. A video of the hammock can be seen here:

You know, it isn't bad looking, and looks like it is full of features, my fear...weight. 5lbs 10oz - seems heavy. I don't have a full setup yet, and this is Eureka...not a fan. Is this a lot of weight? Sounds like it.

You can do a few things to lighten it a bit. You may have to search through past posts.

No, it's technically not Eureka. Eureka sells it, but it is made for Eureka by a Canadian company. The reason it is a bit heavier is because they used big steel biners as part of their suspension. I easily eliminated the biners, and along with them, a fair amount of weight. Also, suspension is a nylon strap. People have replaced the straps with whoopies for a fairly significant weight savings. Lastly, you have to remember, you are combining hammock, tarp, and bug net all into one unit. If you add the weights of a separate system up, depending on the components, it will likely be equal to or exceed the weight of the Chrysalis. Also, bridge hammocks tend to weigh a bit more because of the spreader bars, but you will have a hard time beating the lay-flat comfort of a bridge.

If you do a search on Chrysalis mods, you will see some of the ways other people came up with to save weight.

A final consideration: You hook up your straps and connect the spreader bars, and you are done. No tie-outs, no stakes, no ridgeline, no tarp, no bug net. Very fast and convenient.

Already have woopie slings to boot...hmm

I only have a HT UL and whoopies - nothing else. I really like to make up my own kit though with UL parts. /contemplates...
