I plan to do this, seems like it would help reduce the force on the pull out.

I read somewhere that the shock cord people tend to use is not strong enough to provide proper resistance and once fully loaded is just like a static line so it actually doesn't help in any meaningful way, I will have to see if I can find it...

Great looking tarp aboyd! I've wondered how the Argon sil performs. You videos show a good test in the t-storm.

My bonded pullouts, referenced above, are still going strong entering season #4. On my last tarp I cut out diamond shapes 4" x 7" and rounded the corners before sewing on the grosgrain loops, backed by silnylon. They are oriented with the long direction parallel to the ridgeline, which seems to distribute the pull better.

Interesting idea Klauss. That should work. I would suggest rounded the corners though. Pointy corners will let go more easily.

Thanks Detail Man, glad to hear yours are holding good. I did a test using your method on some scraps tonight, letting it cure now. Gonna play with it some over the weekend.

Its quite impressive how good the sheer force of these silnylon bonds are. I'm not sure how well cuben tie outs would do in the same situation.

So, are there any more updates on this tarp build? I'm really interested to see how things are going. I"m planning my first tarp project and just curious what you might do different next time from this build?
