    Edge, Mamajamba, Hexfly

Hey guys newbie here with a tarp question. Got an ENO DN a few weeks ago and now I'm needing some rain protection. I have researched until my head hurts but can't figure out whats best. I am looking at the WB Edge and Mamajamba and the Hennessy Hexfly in 70D Polyester. I'm not sure about durability of the Silnylon, I know it's light but wander how tough it is. It will get use when backpacking so I do need to consider weight but I will sacrifice weight for durability. Since I've never seen the Silnylon in person I just wander how it can compare to heavier materials. Thanks.

The Hennessy hex is heavy seems to be very durable. I have had doors added to mine and have an extra without doors. If you follow eBay you can get great deals. There is a thread on HF about the hex on amazon for $29.99.
I don't know how much you want to spend or what coverage you want. A friend of mine just picked up a winter haven 4season from simply light designs. Great costumer service great pricing. He picked up a 13 foot with doors, pole mod, line locs straight edge (no cat cut). He took every option with the tarp and has no complaints.
Go to a local group hang and check out some gear.

in my opinion you would have have a very hard time going wrong with the wbmj, i have owned one for almost 4 years, had it out camping easily 150 nights and don't have one complaint about it

i'm not sure what your concerns are with the durability, how are you going to be using it? it certainly won't be as durable as some other fabrics if your abusing it but if you take care of it it there should be no issues

I wouldn't be too concerned about the durability of silnylon. My OES Deluxe Maccat has weathered some incredible storms, including golf ball sized hail. I've seen the wind try to rip it apart and watched small branches fall on it with no damage. I now own a Mamajamba, only because it's a little lighter with more coverage.

Thanks for the replies. Main concerns with Silnylon was it being durable as light as it is. I am wanting something that I can use in my hunting pack as an emergency shelter while on hunting trips as well as using with the hammock on camping trips. Sounds like it will be fine though. I think I will order the Mamajamba and be done with it. Now that thats done I can start thinking about the Dream Hammock options and try to figure that out. I'll probably have more question with that, but I'll start a new thread when the time comes. Thanks.

The MJ is a mighty fine tarp. You won't be disappointed with it. I think it's the best allround tarp on the market: sturdy silnylon, great coverage if you don't need doors, lighter than all other silnylon tarps with the same coverage, and the price is great, too. I bet it will still go stong when the PU coating is peeling off the Hennessy tarp...
